We're committed to make significant progress on many issues of equality, diversity and inclusion, and we look forward to working with our community to achieve the challenges we've set ourselves.

Green Impact

Based on our sustainability credentials and best practice, the Department achieved a Platinum Green Impact award in 2024. We also won two Gold Green Impact awards for our projects: 'A Biodiverse space for all' and 'Energy & Utilities Data Presentation Project in the Ian Wand Building'.

Green Impact is a United Nations award-winning programme designed to support environmentally and socially sustainable practice in organisations, and is run by Students Organising for Sustainability UK.

 

50 Years of Computer Science at York

In 2022, we celebrated the 50th year of the Department of Computer Science at the University of York. Our Founding Professor, Ian Pyle, was appointed on 1 January 1973.
