Title:

Biological applications of genetic and evolutionary computation

Authors:

James Foster

Abstract:

We provide a basic overview of molecular and systems biology and a high level discussion of why GEC techniques may be helpful in addressing major open biological problems. We then discuss four applications of GEC to biological problems as examples: multiple sequence alignment, gene expression determination, phylogenetic inferencing, and interaction network inferencing.
