Abstract:

DNA arrays are currently one of the fastest-growing areas of bioinformatics as they allow biologists unprecedented access to the workings of an organism. Genetic algorithms in recent years have found a number of applications in the analysis of DNA arrays. This paper outlines some of the successful genetic algorithm approaches, some problems with their application in this domain and some potential solutions to these problems. Also, the future possibilities for both genetic algorithms and DNA arrays are considered.
